John Randolph Condry's Obituary
John Randolph Condry died at home Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the arms of his loving wife of 37 years. He was 74. John, son of Theo and Maxine Condry was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 20, 1949.
John was a graduate of Edison High School in 1967, and The University of Tulsa in 1970, with a degree in Business. John held many executive roles in retail and apparel in his early career. John had 2 children, Jay and Tara from previous marriages. He met and married Dyan Knuckey in 1986 and they had one son, Tyler, in 1988. Together they raised Jay, Tara, and Tyler. A promotion to store manager of the Woodland Hills Foley’s (Macy’s) store-bought them back to Tulsa. In 1989, John and Dyan bought Sundance Office, and by a mixture of belief, business acumen, hard work, an eye for the right people, and sheer force of will he was able to take Sundance from a few employees to the largest independently owned office supplier in Oklahoma.
John coached kids’ teams, cheered at games, played with them, and loved them. Fundamentally, he taught them to be kind, loving, strong, and independent individuals. John was Dyan’s prince charming and she was his princess Dy. They shared 37 years together. They loved, they laughed, they cried…they LIVED. A day did not go by without them telling each other, I love you. Retirement found them enjoying the company of longtime friends around their pool, riding their bikes all around town, walking their precious fur baybee Winnie around the neighborhood, and chatting with neighbors. Pickleball was a new passion and since John was a tennis player years ago, he was a force to be reckoned with…..in the beginners league! New friends were made, old friends were kept and everyone thought he was a true GEM. He will be missed.
You–you alone–will have the stars as no one else has them–”
“And at night you will look up at the stars.
My star will just be one of the stars, for you. “In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night
And so you will love to watch all the stars…
You–only you–will have stars that can laugh.
I shall not leave you”
There is sweetness
in the laughter of all the stars….
and in the memories of those we love.”
He is preceded in death by his parents; his cousin, Jim Condry and his fur babies. Murphy and Tucker Randolph. He is survived by his wife Dyan and fur baby Winnie; son, Jay Condry, and daughter-in-law Julie; grandsons, Cole and Carson; daughter, Tara Landgraf, and son-in-law, Justin; granddaughters Blair and Kennedy; son, Tyler Condry and daughter-in-law Lauren; sister, Alice Mires, and brother-in-law Art, brother-in-law Jack Benton; cousins Nancy Condry and Bartow Bradley; nieces, Holly Mires and Julie Benton; nephews, Travis Benton, David Mires and his wife, Lorinda.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to St. Jude’s, one of Sundance’s favorite charities. It was a cause that was near and dear to John and one he could hardly talk about without getting emotional.
