John Connor's Obituary
John Dennis Connor, 81, departed this life Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 23, 1939 in McAlister, Oklahoma to Earl and Ethel Connor.
John was a natural athlete and excelled in all sports. He attended Haileyville High School where he lettered in Football. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves at the age of 17, where he studied automotive maintenance, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration repair. He was honorably discharged in 1964 after serving 8 years in the US Army Reserves and National Guard.
He married Linda Glass in 1961 and together they created a warm and loving family. John adored his wife and children and doted on his grandchildren.
John was a licensed first-class operating engineer, and held certifications in electrical, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. He was employed by the Rooney Company as an operating engineer for 13 years and MAPCO as the facilities operation’s supervisor for 15 years. He retired at the age of 73 from American Airlines after 22 years.
John is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda, of the home; his children Belinda McGhie and husband Anthony of Depew, Oklahoma, Tommy Connor and wife Stacy of Drumright, Oklahoma. Sisters Earlene Cook and Leta Jones. Grandchildren, Courtney Munoz, Trey Nichols, Natalie Connor, Ashley Corey, TJ Connor, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 pm - 5 pm on Sunday, January 24 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 am on Monday, January 25 at the Floral Haven Chapel.
