John David Evans' Obituary
This is the story of John David Evans, David, as he liked to be called. David was an unconventional man, who lived his life to the beat of his own drummer. On November 4th, 2016 he began a new chapter in his “Story of Life”. He was surrounded with the love of his wife, Karen, Son, Brandon, Daughter, Casey Brother and Sister-In Law, Mike and Erin Evans, as he began this new chapter on his story. David was greatly loved by his family and friends and will always be missed.David began his story on July 14th, 1953, in McAlister, Oklahoma. Born the middle child of John D. and Billie Evans, David, his brothers, Ron and Mike and sister, Sandi grew up surrounded by a large loving extended family. His grandparents were Henry and Erma Evans, and Cary and Dollie Wilson. David’s parents both had eleven siblings. When you add in the Aunts and Uncles spouses and cousins, there was always someone to give him a hug, a firm hand or playmate for one of his “adventures”. This is when David’s love and respect for family began. Although David truly loved all his family, David formed special bonds with his Aunt Dovie and Uncle Lee. In 1959, He and his family moved to Odessa, Texas. At this time David and his cousin Bruce formed a friendship that would last their lifetime. (These three relationships will play important parts in his story)Living in McAlister David was free to explore the beauty of nature. David’s love for the outdoors was formed at an early age. Even as an adult David could frequently be found working or playing outside with no shoes on his feet and a smile on his face.David attended McAlister High School. In Junior High School, David joined the band, and discovered a new love, music. To say David loved music is an understatement. Music was his medicine for everything, and he loved sharing it with family and friends. After Graduation, David embarked on another chapter of his life and discovered another love, travel. David went to work for Meeco Marinas, where he got to travel and work out doors. In 1973, David made a visit to Odessa, Texas to visit with his cousin Bruce (This, is one of those important parts of his life.). On this visit Bruce introduced David to an Odessa girl that caught his eye. David returned to work for Meeco, but the blonde haired, green eyed girl kept coming into his thoughts. In 1974, David moved to Odessa, Texas with the intention of getting to know the blonde haired, green eyed girl who had captured his heart. David married Karen Lynn Green, the love of his life, on November 9th, 1974. Karen became David’s partner, and together they continued to write many more chapters in his book.David joined the Air Force in 1974. He and Karen traveled to many different cities and in 1976 David got to add another chapter to his book. Brandon Lee Evans was born on November 20th 1976, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, becoming the third partner, and changed the couple to a family. That year David, Karen, and Brandon packed up and moved to England. While in England, the family grew again. Casey Nichole Evans was born on February 15th, 1980.David returned to Oklahoma in 1980. He continued his service for his country by serving the National Guard until 1985. David worked as a Technical Engineer at American Airlines and Parata. These jobs allowed him to continue to explore his love of travel.David loved spending time with his family. Family was the most important thing to him. Some of his favorite activities were camping with his children (Their friends were always welcome.), boating, and working on his electric blue 1971 El Camino.David’s family continued to grow with his son’s marriage to Teresa. Brandon and Teresa completed the family with the births of his grandchildren, Wyatt and Jaxon Evans. David was overjoyed to be a grandfather. Before his grandchildren were born, he would see his friends with their grandchildren and he would remark “I want one of those”. When he found out Wyatt was being born he called friends to let them know he was getting one too!David will always be remembered as a family man. His love for his family and friends was unconditional, steadfast, and dependable. Because of these things, when David became ill and began another chapter in his life, he was not alone. The family and friends he had made were there with him. About a week before he started the new chapter of his life. (This is where the other special relationships he formed come in to the story.) He told several people that he had a dream and Aunt Dovie and Uncle Lee were waiting for him when he started the final chapter of his life. Aunt Dovie asked him what took so long. This is not the end of David’s story; it is just the beginning of the next chapter. Loved ones who will miss him until we meet again are Karen, his wife of 42yrs. his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Teresa Evans, Daughter, Casey Evans, Grandsons, Wyatt and Jaxon Evans, Parents, John D. and Billie Evans, his brother and spouse Ron and Cinda Evans, Sister, Sandi Evans Fox, Brother and Spouse, Mike and Erin Evans, Father and Mother In-Law, Harold and Murlene Green, Brother and Sister In-Law, David and Jamie Green and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, other family members and many friends.A Celebration of his life will be held on: November, 11th 2016, 12.30pm – 3:30 pm Floral Haven 6500 S. 129th E.
