John DeBoer's Obituary
John F. deBoer was born November 5, 1942, in Groningen, Netherlands, to Hendrik and Wilhelmina deBoer. He passed away peacefully on November 30, 2019, surrounded by his family. Upon graduation from California Polytechnic State University with a degree in Accounting, John joined the U.S. Army. His military service included a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he received commendations. After serving with the U.S. Army, John pursued his career in Finance. He started his profession as a Junior Accountant with Beckman Instruments, Fullerton, CA. His experience continued as Controller for Parker-Hannifin, Elyria, OH, Vice President of Finance at Doboy Packaging, New Richmond, WI, Chief Financial Officer at SIG Holdings AG in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, and retired as President of Eagle Packaging, Oakland, CA. John enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones. From his father and brother, John gained an interest in stamp collecting. Stamps from the Netherlands, United States, and United Nations were meaningful to his collection. Another significant hobby was genealogy, which included travelling to the Netherlands to do research in historical archives. Through this research, he was able to locate and connect with distant relatives. John was fond of sharing his discoveries and family stories with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. John is survived by his wife, Paula; three children, Stephanie deBoer, Jennifer deBoer Rickard (Scott), and John deBoer (Melissa); six grandchildren, Carrie Palmer (Chris), Derek Sveen-Winters (Dan), Jacob Sveen, Sean Rickard, Ryan Rickard, and Mila deBoer; two great grandchildren, Ona Palmer and Emilie Palmer; nieces and nephews; cousins; as well as additional family and loved ones. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019, at 11:00am at Rhema Bible Church, Chapel, Broken Arrow, OK. Funeral arrangements are through Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, OK. Inurnment will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
