John Dewey Edmunds' Obituary
John Dewey Edmunds, 86 of Bella Vista, AR, died on May 20, 2021. He was born on March 7, 1935, in Talihina, OK to George and Bessie Edmunds.
He made his profession of faith as a young boy being baptized in the creek and continued to be faithful till the Lord called him home.
John graduated from Buffalo Valley High School in 1953 and then graduated from Eastern Oklahoma Junior College in 1955. He played basketball and joined the ROTC during his time in Wilburton OK.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1955 and served for four years. It was there that he received his Air Traffic Control training. While stationed in Denver CO he met and married Mary Hopson and they were married June 16, 1956. While serving in the Air Force he found his love for aviation. After his time in the service, he began his love of flying. He earned his single, multi-engine, and instructor license. He also enjoyed the time he spent working with search and rescue for the Civil Air Patrol. He also found time to enjoy hunting and fishing. He loved his Oklahoma State Cowboys and was proud to wear the orange.
He is survived by his wife Mary, his son Dirk and daughter Natalie Jones, son-in-law Allen and grandchildren, Christopher and Emily Jones, and Cameron and Sara Jones. He is also survived by 5 sister-in-laws, 1 brother-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Bessie Edmunds and two brothers Bill and E.S. Edmunds.
The service will be held on June 10, 2021, at 12:30 at Floral Haven Chapel with Pastor Brent Summerhill presiding.
