Freel, John William's Obituary
John William Freel, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 70. Born on December 28, 1953, in Rogers City, Michigan, to Ann Freel Cope and William E. Dagner, John was lovingly raised by Bruce G. Freel and Ann Freel Cope.
John’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, his deep love for his family, and his passion for serving others. He shared 39 joyful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Anne Freel, and was a loving father to their three children, Nathanael, Emily, and Zachary. Together, John and Anne built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose.
A talented musician and dedicated pastor, John spent his life using his gifts to uplift and inspire those around him. His music and ministry left a lasting impact on all who knew him, and his warm heart, optimism, and sense of humor made him a source of joy and comfort to many. He was a trusted confidant, always ready with encouragement and wisdom for those in need.
John’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. After returning to Oklahoma, he became a cherished member of the Harvest Church community in Broken Arrow, where he found fulfillment in serving others and motivating them to live with purpose. His influence as a mentor and friend will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A lover of God’s creation, John marveled at the beauty of the world around him and found joy in studying the night sky, reflecting his awe of the Creator’s handiwork.
John is survived by his loving wife, Anne Freel; their children, Nathanael Freel, Emily Freel, and Zachary Freel; his mother, Ann Freel Cope; his brothers, Tom Freel and Bill Dagner; his sisters, Lisa Bassie, Jane Smith, and Holly Chapman; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

John’s celebration of life memorial service will be held at Harvest Church Broken Arrow on January 25, 2025 at 2pm.
