I have to agree with Mr. Workman. I only knew John a short time during my time at BSW which was only 5 months. But John made going to work fun! I'll never forget him saying "Did I tell you I hate this 9/80 schedule with people off every other Friday?" He was just a blast and one of the kindest and funniest men I have ever known. He will be missed. Thank you Gigas family for sharing him.
Look up "class act" and you will get a picture of John. If you needed an adult in the room, John was your man. When you needed to find order midst chaos, this gentle man stood ready to serve, armed with his engaging wit, an amazing lifetime of experiences and a charm that could either calm the waters or stir the pot, whichever was required.John worked his magic with the treasures of others, but his own treasures were named Debbie, Darcy, Nick, Tanner and two loving grandchildren. When he spoke of them to me his eyes lit up and his soul brightened. He came to me late in both our lives. He walked me through some of the darkest days I've ever known, shining his light where and when he knew I needed to see the way forward. We started out as business associates. We ended as friends for life. He stood by, stood up and stood for me, while most others, many who claimed to be friends and partners when times were good, chose to abandon me. He took many arrows intended for me and mine, even when their poisoned tips became vile and personal. And he always did it with calm, humor and a forgiving perspective.John was my rock. John was my friend. I am a better man for having known him. I loved him. He didn't need to be issued his wings last Wednesday…he already had his. And I am sure that as John left this world behind, the first words he heard were, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant…Well done!"…Catch you later, John! (And I mean that in the best possible way!!!)Bob Workman
Debby, I was so sorry to hear about John's passing. As fate would have it, I was in Tulsa on Thursday for the funeral of my cousin, also my age, service also at Floral Haven in BA. I wish I could've stayed for John's service, but it just wasn't possible. I wish you and your family the very best and offer my sincere condolences. John was a great classmate and he will be very missed by the class of 63. I have so many fond memories of our growing up years in Mc.
Debbie, so sorry to hear about John's death. I will try to reach you next week.Ruyana and Gary of McAlester, Oklahoma
