John Thomas Harris' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Thomas Harris, who departed this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the age of 76. John passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones in Sperry, OK.
Born on Sunday, December 05, 1948, in Lawrence, KS to George and Darlene Harris (nee Logsdon). John was known for his love of family, intelligence, faith, and strong work ethic. He dedicated much of his life to family and work, earning the respect and admiration of those around him.
John is survived by a daughter, Daria Cole, brother Phillip Harris, grandchildren Christian, Devin, Caitlin and Cassandra, and a great-granddaughter Melody. He is preceded in death by wife Jan Harris, grandparents Harold and Sally King, father George Harris, and sister Georgia Kay Harris.
John graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Ks and received his bachelor’s in aviation sciences from Oklahoma State University. He traveled the world as a Designated Airworthiness Representative. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, restoring vintage motorcycles, and collecting guns.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on September 15, 2025, at 11:00am at The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 9505 N Cincinnati Ave Sperry, OK
