Unfortunately, we did not know Sgt. Harris personally. My husband works with his father in law Ronnie and we send our condolences to the family. We are truly sorry for your loss and are thinking of you during this difficult time.

I wish I could have known John as an adult. I was lucky enough to be there with his parents the day he was born. His Mom and I taught together for 7 years spending countless hours planning the changes he would bring to all our lives. I know for a fact that nothing gave his Mom and Dad more pleasure than bringing him into the world. He was a beautiful child and by all stories recently shared, that quality never changed. His caring involvement is something he came by honestly and his parents have to be proud of the path he chose, and the man he became - loving husband and father, and an involved, dedicated officer. He made a positive difference in many people’s lives including his brothers in blue, based on their escorting tribute.

He was one of a couple deputies that talked me into getting back into law enforcement. I’m glad I listened, I made some life long friends. It was a mistake when I called and talked to you a few days prior to going into hospital, or was it….. you weren’t’ feeling well but you still asked about my new job and family, buts that’s how you were. I’m going to miss you friend. God speed until we meet again. Prayers will be lifted up for your whole family.

Sgt.Harris Was such a great guy. Last September my family had a horrible thing happen in our family. And my oldest son worked for the jail. With no hesitation Sgt Harris showed up to were my family was. He was very caring and kind. And it wasn't just cause of his job to check up on my family he truly cared. He took time talking to each of my children and myself. Even weeks later he would call and check up on us. And most of all he was a friend to my oldest son. They went to lunch a couple times and Sgt Harris would call my son just to see how he was doing. He was not just a great officer, friend, and brother but also someone you could count on. And he did it from his heart. He talked about his family with us and how great his wife is and talked about his children and how proud of them he was. Sgt Harris you will never be forgotten and there is no words I can say other then to thank you for helping my family and my oldest son when we needed it so much. I pray for his wife, children, friends, and his brother's and sister's of the sheriff's office. Thank you again John Harris and I won't say goodbye but I will say see you later in heaven. From the Watkins family.
