John Herbert Hartson's Obituary
Herbert John Hartson passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 17th, 1921 to Dorr P. and Florence (Dennis) Hartson. Herb received his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University and served three years as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his return, Herb married Clarice Panke, with whom he happily shared 58 wonderful years. His lifelong (38 years) career was as a petroleum engineer with Texaco Oil Company. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Delta Lodge No. 425 in Tulsa. Herb was very involved for many years with the Boy Scouts of America, earning their highest honor, the Eagle Scout Award. He also helped his two sons and grandsons achieve that honor as well. Herb also belonged to the B-26 Marauder Historical Society and was a long-time member of Joy Lutheran Church. Those left to celebrate Herb’s life are his two sons, David and Doug, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister and numerous friends. We will greatly miss Herb’s ever-present smile and sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 at Joy Lutheran Church, 9940 S. Yale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to University Village or Joy Lutheran Church.
