John Edward Lapham, 89, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025. Born on March 16, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Frank and Alice Klucken, later taking his Stepfathers last name, becoming John Lapham. John lived a life of love, service, and faith.
John married his beloved Janis L. Lapham on January 3, 1981. Their 43-year marriage was filled with devotion and affection. John often affectionately called Janis his “Sweetie,” while she lovingly referred to him as “John Eddie.” Together, they created a legacy of love and support that touched the lives of many.
John proudly served in the United States Air Force, and his assignment to Tinker Air Force Base brought him to Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life. A devoted Christian, John taught Sunday School at Heritage United Methodist Church for over 30 years, sharing his faith and kindness with all who knew him.
A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, John’s passion for the team was legendary and spread throughout his family, creating a legacy of Red Sox fans for generations to come. His love for sports was matched only by his deep affection for his family. John and Jan never missed an opportunity to attend family gatherings or support their grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in their activities and accomplishments.
Known for his sense of humor, John was fondly called the "King of One-Liners" by his family. His witty remarks and positive outlook on life brought laughter to those around him. He was a man of integrity, always seeking to lift others up and never having a negative word to say about anyone. John’s presence was a joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and love.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alice, his wife, Janis, two daughters, and his siblings. He is survived by his children: Neil Lapham (Melinda) of Broken Arrow, Mark Lapham (Debbie) of Grapevine, Texas, Jason Maxey (Erika) of Broken Arrow, and Robert Griffin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, along with his many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
