John Gregory Madden III's Obituary
John Gregory Madden III, born on May 29, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to John Gregory Madden II and Geraldine Agnes (Mayfield), passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in his hometown of Tulsa. A dedicated Marine and devoted family man, Greg leaves behind a legacy of service and loyalty.
Greg proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, commanding the Anti-Tank TOW Company during Operation Desert Storm. He was known by his good friends and family as Colonel. His years of service were marked by his unwavering commitment to his fellow Marines and his country.
Greg was a 1970 graduate of Bishop Kelley High School. He went on to earn his degree from the University of Tulsa and later achieved a master’s in business administration from Oklahoma State University. He spent his professional career as a business administrator at Rhodes Hieronymus law office, where he worked diligently until his retirement.
Beyond his career, Greg was an active member of the ALA, a proud member of a local motorcycle club, and a committed participant in the Marine Corps League. While he was known for his sharp-witted humor, those close to him knew his love for cigars was no joke.
Greg is survived by his son, John Gregory Madden IV, and his wife, Maris; his daughter-in-law, Miranda Keller; and his beloved grandchildren, Lyla, Ian, Grace, and Hudson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Cordy, and his parents, John Gregory Madden II and Geraldine Agnes (Mayfield).
Greg will be remembered as a man with profound integrity. His legacy of service and dedication will be honored by all who had the privilege to know him.
The family kindly requests donations be made to Philmont Scout Ranch in lieu of flowers.
