John William Proffitt IV's Obituary
John William Proffitt IV (LJ) passed away peacefully in his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 17, 2024. John was born on November 22, 1980 to his parents John and Cynthia Proffitt in Murray, Utah. John graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1999 and attended some college until finding a career path he was interested in.
John was a fun, smart, and spontaneous person that was always the life of the party. He worked hard, he was kind, he was caring, and he loved everyone around him. It has been said that John never met a stranger. In his recent job at Home Depot, John was an encourager and brought smiles to the faces of everyone that he worked with. John enjoyed the outdoors, music, dancing, fast cars, and was always competitive with those around him. As a loving father, John was always talking about his children TJ and Lilley. He had a strong relationship with Jesus, attended a men’s Bible study, and served faithfully in his church.
John Proffitt is proceeded in death by his brother Jason. He is survived by his children TJ and Lilley, his brothers Eric, Gary, Aaron, Adam, Charles and Nick, his sisters Bonnie, Julie and Sarah, and his parents John and Cynthia Proffitt.

“A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, ‘Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes that we’re together again.’”
