Phil Singletary's Obituary
John Phillip (Phil) Singletary, 80, was born on September 13, 1940 in Sulphur, Louisiana to Mattie Mae and Roy Homer Singletary. He passed on December 21, 2020 at his home in Tulsa, surrounded by his loving family, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Roy (Bubba) Singletary, William (Bill) Singletary, Gail LaFargue, and Nancy Sherrod. He is survived by Jana Singletary, his wife of 42 years; his children: Craig Singletary, Hunter Singletary, Kelly Williams and wife Michelle, all from the Tulsa area, and Kim Williams and Kathy Busbey of Sherman, TX; his brother Jim Singletary of Gulfport, FL; his grandchildren: Keeley Jackson, Haley Sherwood, Bee Argo, and Braden Williams; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phil was husband, father, brother, uncle, papa, coach, and friend to many. It was his passion in life to work hard so he could provide for his family. He spent his adult life working in the heat exchanger industry, and in 1979 he founded The Singletary Company, which he managed successfully for 41 years. He loved his job and couldn't wait to get up every morning and get out to the shop. He also enjoyed playing golf, and he served as President of the Pryor Senior Mens Golf Association for a number of years.
He loved his family and was very involved in all his kids' activities including motocross, baseball, basketball, soccer, and golf. He coached all of their baseball teams from T-ball through Little League. Phil was a great influence on young people, and many of his former players kept in touch with him through the years. For the past fifteen years, his greatest joy was every Friday, when his grandson Braden spent the night, and often the entire weekend with him. We will miss his smile, his laughter, and his guidance, but we are thankful that he is no longer suffering.
