It has been very recently, with shock and sadness, that I learned of John's passing last October. My sincere condolences are sent to his wife Tamyra, son John IV, daughter Amanda, brother Jeff and their extended families.

I met John in 1967 at OSU. We were seated next to each other in Dr. Dollar's class: US History from 1876-1904. As I recall, Dr. Dollar was very impressed by John's literary skills. He received high marks on his end of term essay regarding the Beatles Influence on American Culture. Though not a history major, John aced the class.

After our paths diverged, I often wondered how John's life had unfolded over the following years. It was a great comfort for me to know that he shared a full life with a wonderful wife and the enjoyment of children and grandchildren. I would like to thank John's family for providing the online memorial service together with the photographic history which revealed John's life with his family through the years - indeed, a life well-lived.

Well done John! It was good to know you. You left too soon and will be missed by many.

I was deeply saddened to hear of John passing. I was fortunate to have worked with John in the late 70’s at the Unit Rig training center at the Skyline East building. Those were fun days when our hair was still dark (and not gray) and well, John still had hair. Then in 2006 when I went to work for FlightSafety to get my employee tour from John. He always brought a smile and a positive attitude. I hope he’s driving that Subaru on heavens highway taking pictures. My condolences to his family. He was very special and will be missed.

I am Marc Minoff a fellow New Yorker. John was my Floor Counselor in 66- 67 on the fourth floor at E Bennet at Oklahoma State. He was a wonderful guy
Who was helpful in getting me used to College Life.
He was one wonderful and intelligent guy.

I am so very sorry to hear of John's passing. I last spoke to John months ago about homecoming at OSU and the possibilities of meeting a mutual friend of ours from New York City when he came to Oklahoma. Unfortunately that meeting did not come to fruition. My connection with John goes way back to our days at OSU where we were were dorm "counselors" at Bennett Hall. We then rented a small house/apartment on Husband Street in Stillwater. Later we worked together at the Tulsa County Assessors Office, in varying locations. We spoke occasionally over the years, mostly about our current families. He was so proud of his wife and children. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, as well as his long ago friends from the Assessors office. I still fondly tell stories about our living together at the Husband Street house in Stillwater and us arguing about counting the peas, corn, and green beans from their cans as we tried to manage our combined food budget (I thought he was too cheap and he thought that I was too irresponsible with money). My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. May they take some extra comfort in knowing that John touched many peoples' lives in many meaningful ways.

At FlightSafety Simulation, I had first started the Technical Publications group which is responsible for writing simulator operations and maintenance manuals. Shortly thereafter, I became group leader and I was able to recruit and hire John away from Burtek Simulation where he was also doing the same. As part of this new group, John was also instrumental in creating the new Technical Training group. Both groups then became part of a newly formed department of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) under Norm Sahm. During my and John's tenure in these roles, both groups also won a few rewards from the International Society for Technical Communications. As they say, "the rest is history"

I used to sit in a cube next to the Sky Bridge at FlightSafety. Every once in a while, I would hear John taking a group of kids on a tour... He would say to the kids, “We are about to walk about this sky bridge. The bridge is built to hold the weight of 25 people...but ... we have 26 today.” ....

John had always been brought positive views to a negative situation. He once asked me how a project went. When I started counting all the discrepancies, he told me “You know, I have just talked the PM and he told me everything well.” He reminded me that engineers tend to look at the glass as half-empty. He reminded me that we should be proud of what we have accomplished. That advise has helped me faced with obstacles.
