Rev. John Ora Williams' Obituary
Rev. John Ora Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma, son of the late Rev. James Williams and Rev. Mary Allene Williams, passed away on Thursday, October 11th, 2018, at the age of 72. He was born in Waynoka, Oklahoma on October 25th, 1945. John graduated from Edison High School in 1963 and in 1965 followed his older brothers Jerald and Jim to Oklahoma State University, where he studied anatomy and wrestled on two National Champion Cowboys teams.In 1968, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp with his best friend, Billy Carl Armstrong. During his career in the USMC, John fought valiantly in the Vietnam War, founded the Marine Corps Wrestling Team, and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Upon his return, John launched his own investigation and security company and began his lifelong quest to seek the truth. That quest would lead him to become an undercover OSBI narcotics agent, the 28th polygraph examiner in State history, the first President of the Board of Polygraph Examiners, and a career with the Oklahoma State University Police Department, retiring as the Chief of Police at the Tulsa campus in 2004.On March 14th, 1983, John turned his life over to the Lord and began seeking a new truth. His hunger for the Lord manifested itself in teaching and administrative roles at Heritage Christian School, numerous assistant pastor roles throughout Stillwater, and eventually taking over for his parents as the Pastor of Bellaire Assembly in 1995, where he never missed a Sunday in 23 years.John is survived by his sons Isaac (Amber) Williams of Tulsa, OK, Daniel Williams of Woodward, OK, and Benjamin Williams of Midwest City, OK; step-children Brandon Stone of Stillwater, OK and Bethany Stone of Tahlequah, OK; his grandson, Aidan Williams; his siblings Barbara Burditt of Tulsa, OK, Patricia Ryman of Springfield, MO, and Jim (Sue) Williams of Tulsa, OK; his “angel” Dayle Salzman of Coweta, OK; his uncle Frank Williams of Lawson, MO; as well as his many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James Williams and Rev. Mary Allene Williams, and his brothers Jerald Williams and Jack Williams.
