John Henry Wilson's Obituary
John Henry Wilson was born March 20, 1940 in Nordheim, Dewitt, Texas. He was the son of Martha Hattie Houdmann (later Witt) and Horace Newt Wilson. He had one sibling, his younger brother, Charles Horace Wilson, who currently lives in south Texas with his wife, Sharon. He met Virginia Nell Davis (known as Susie to her friends) when they were both just 13 years old. They graduated from George West High School in George West, Texas in 1958. They both went to Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas (now known as Texas A&M Kingsville) and got married September 5, 1960. John graduated with a degree in engineering. Susie graduated with a degree in home economics.John started his worklife with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers right out of college and worked with them in various offices until his retirement, including jobs in Texas at the Space Center in Houston and the Texas City levees; in Arkansas at DeQueen, Gillham, and Dierks; in Oklahoma at Muskogee, Bartlesville, and Tulsa, as well as a stint in Egypt. He was also a liaison with FEMA during natural disasters including Hurricane Andrew.In 1963, daughter Kelly Rae Wilson was born in Texas City, Texas. In 1967, son Charles Marcus Wilson was born in Nederland, Texas. They both graduated high school in Broken Arrow. John continued his love of golf. Susie continued her love of cooking and sewing. John and Susie were quite adventurous, including being on a hot air balloon crew, multiple scuba diving trips to Cozumel and the Caribbean, photographing nature and wildlife in multiple national parks, photographing local high school sporting events, teaching photography, relentless pursuing the game of golf across the country, sailing, and enjoying the company of their many dear friends.In lieu of flowers, please donate to Meals on Wheels.Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 3P.M. at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
