Johnnie "John" Edward Reaves' Obituary
Johnnie “John” Edward Reaves, a longtime resident of Tulsa, departed this world on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the age of 80. He was born March 13, 1936 to Ray Elmo Reaves and Lizzie Mae (Whittington) Reaves in Bremond, Texas. John served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1956, achieving the rank of Corporal. He began his career in transportation management with LeeWay Motor Freight and ended his career in 1996 with American Freightways. John enjoyed playing racquetball and dominoes, but most of all he was a wonderful husband, father to his six children, and a much loved “Poppy.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mae Reaves.Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Sheila Reaves; six children, John Reaves and wife, Leigh, Jana Foley, Jeff Reaves, Jay Reaves and wife, Jill, Anji Ison and husband, Roger, and Jill Reaves; two brothers, Billy and Bobby Reaves; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Floral Haven Rose Chapel in Broken Arrow with Charlie Jackson officiating.Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps.Friends may send their condolences to www.floralhaven.comIn lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Association Oklahoma Chapter 2448 E. 81st Street, Suite 3000 Tulsa, OK 74137 or www.alz.org
