Johnny was a father to me. I spent the majority of my childhood at he and Lois' home. They provided a safe place for me, away from my troubled hiusehold where I spent my afternoons and weekends with their oldest son, Randy.
Generous is how I best remember Johnny. I ate at their table. When older, I enjoed a beer with him from the excellent brew he created.
Although I was deeply troubled, he was always there for me with his lowkey sense of humor. He was the best therapy if you were young and confused, and embraced me without judgement.
I can honestly say if I did anything right as a parent, it was because of Johnny. His love and kindness sustained me. I am the man I am today because of his example.
He will be missed.
