Johnny Ray Parks' Obituary
Johnny Ray Parks was born March 2, 1937 in Fittstown, Oklahoma to Lawrence O. Parks and Mary Ann Tuxhorn Parks. John graduated from Webster High School (Tulsa) in 1955. That same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Yvonne Dunford. They remained married for 61 years until his death December 24, 2016. John worked up through the ranks at Sipes Grocery (Tulsa chain) to manager during his twenty year career. After the grocery business, John owned and operated two hamburger restaurants, Jumbo Hamburgers, for almost two decades. John made numerous friends during his work career, and many would show up daily at Jumbos for their own “breakfast club”. John moved his family to Broken Arrow in 1967. He retired to enjoy the 2.5 acres in 1994. Over the years, John enjoyed farming (1 year 2,400 tomato plants), gardening and his occasional animal friends: horses, chickens, geese, rabbits, turkeys, dogs, and even a goat. John’s pride was his family. John and Yvonne’s children are Cathy Parks Roberts, Kyle Parks (wife Angela Perryman Parks), and John Beau Parks (wife Emily Burgess Parks). Grandchildren include: Kelsey Parks, Madison Roberts, Emily Parks, Quinn Parks, and Will Parks. They also have a great-grandson Camden Roberts. John considered himself a lifelong Methodist. John was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Parks and his sister Jo Ann Parks Hollinger. In-lieu of flowers, the family request you donate to Rheumatoid Arthritis research at the Arthritis National Research Foundation (at curearthritis.org).Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27th, Floral Haven Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, 28th, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
