Jon "Tony" Anthony Motes, Sr.'s Obituary
Jon (Tony) Anthony Motes Sr. passed away suddenly on August 28,2010. He was born on Cannon AFB, Clovis, New Mexico. Tony was a disabled veteran and was proud of his Army service as well as the fact he came from a large military family. Everyone who knew him appreciated his sense of humor and always started laughing when you mentioned his name. Everyone seems to have a favorite story about a prank he pulled or a story he told. He enjoyed his electronic work and tinkering with cars before it became too difficult for him. He loved new experiences and visiting new countries. One of the highlights of his life was when he went to the Skip Barber Racing School (for car racing)in Texas. Tony is survived by his wife Deanna Motes of Wichita, his companion Debra Motes of Tulsa, and his best friend Cheryl Backward of Wichita. He is survived by sons, Jon A. Motes Sr and wife Kellie, Adam Motes, Tanner Brown, and Justin Brown all of Wichita. His daughters are Susan Fenn of North Carolina, and Brittney Shaw and husband Michael of Arkansas. His surviving brothers are: J. Scott Motes of Oklahoma City, James Motes and wife Kathy of Dallas, Jeff Motes and wife Angela of Guantanamo, Cuba, Matt Dominski and wife Tina of Virginia Beach, VA, Bobby Motes and wife Stacy of NC, Jason Motes and wife Denise of NC and step brother Charles Brown of Duncan, OK. Step sister Tracy Nix and husband John of Oklahoma City. He is survived by mother and stepfather Carole Holmes Brown and Colonel Stanley M. Brown of Broken Arrow, stepmother Juree Motes and grandmother Anne Dominski of Lewiston, NY. He is also survived by grandchildren Kali Shaw, Chloe Shaw, Briton Shaw, and Tucker Shaw all of Arkansas. He will be missed by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Tony was preceded in death by father, Jerry D. Motes; grandparents: Albert and Nell Motes, M/Sgt James and Gladys Holmes and brother Jordan Shane Motes. Tony truly enjoyed life.
