Jon David Haltom's Obituary
Jon David Haltom, 78, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from his life peacefully at his home surrounded by family on April 2, 2020.
He was born is Dyess, AR on September 26, 1941 to William and Ruth Miller Haltom. He was the oldest of four siblings. Jon spent most of his childhood in Hawaii as a missionary kid. During those formative years, he worked in a pineapple-canning factory. He graduated high school from Hawaii Baptist Academy in 1959. After graduation, he continued his education at Oklahoma Baptist University.
In 1962, he went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a registered professional land surveyor traveling and working in many cities in Oklahoma. Shortly after, he met the love of his life Linda Hawkins Haltom. They were married 11 months after their first date and spent 56 wonderful years together. Jon and Linda ultimately landed in Muskogee in 1974, and lived there with their children Brad and Michelle until 1999.
In 1999, he moved to Broken Arrow to be closer to his grandchildren and family where he worked for a private surveying company. After retiring, Jon spent his time as a devoted grandfather and an active member of the Park Church of Christ. Throughout his life, Jon had many hobbies. He enjoyed scuba diving, visiting islands, wood working, and going to as many grandkid activities as possible.
Jon was proceeded in death by his parents William (Bill) and Ruth Haltom. He is survived by his wife Linda Haltom of the home and their children Brad Haltom and wife Susie Haltom of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Michelle Kelly and husband Keith Kelly of Tulsa, Oklahoma and seven grandchildren Madison Kelly, Connor Kelly and wife Rustyn Kelly, Jared Haltom, Brooklyn Kelly, Josh Haltom, Jacob Haltom, and Logan Kelly. He is also survived by sister Rebekah Couts and husband Bob Couts, brother Sam Haltom and wife Linda Haltom and sister Sarah Hollifield and husband Ronald Hollifield.
