Joneele Brewer's Obituary
Joneele was born in Granite, OK to Arthur and Burneele (Street) Penhall. She was a 1948 graduate of Clinton High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women (OCW). Joneele was active in the theater department and graduated with a degree in speech. She was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and was named Miss OCW her senior year. Upon graduation, she took a teaching position in Hobbs, NM where she met her future husband, Ross A. Brewer, Jr., a petroleum engineer. Joneele and Ross married in 1953 in Clinton, OK and raised three children, Mark, Vicki, and Ross. The family resided in Odessa, TX and Houston, TX before moving to Tulsa in 1966. In the 1980s, Joneele and Ross moved to Kingwood, TX and remained there after Ross retired. Joneele moved back to Tulsa in 2018. Joneele was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church and the church ‘s bowling league. She also worked at the Four Seasons Ice Rink, Swan’s Hockey Shop, and Allsop’s Hockey Supply. Joneele was very active in the Tulsa Minor Hockey Association, serving as a board member and team parent. She also managed the rink scheduling for the Tulsa Ice Oilers, including their championship team. Along with being an Ice Oilers fan, she was an avid supporter of her children’s sports—Mark’s bowling, Vicki’s tap and ballet, and Ross’s ice hockey. Teaching and books were her other passions. She couldn’t wait to finish one book to start another, and her first stop at Sam’s Club was the book section. Joneele was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Norma Jean Emanuel; grandson Michael Brian Brewer; son-in-law Mike Allsop; and her loving husband of 64 years, Ross. She is survived by son Mark and wife Sammie of Jenks; daughter Vicki Allsop and fiancé Rick Butare of Hillsborough, NJ; son Ross of Rhome, TX; grandchildren Victoria (Jamie) Long of Hubert, NC; Stephanie (Daniel) Brogan of Bedford, TX; Briana Keeton of Denver, CO; and Davis Allsop of Los Angeles, CA; and great-grandchildren, Owen and Zoe Brogan and Atlas Long. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to your local food bank or to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
