Joseph Long's Obituary
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isiah 40:31Joseph Anthony Long Jr., 68, was called home to be with the Lord on June 17th, 2018. Joe was born July 18th, 1949 in Brownsville, Pa. Parents Joseph and Mary Jane, Big Brother to Janice and Christina. Joe lived life to the fullest with great sense of adventure and passion. Leaving home at the age of 18 he set out on the new adventure, he landed in Denver, Co, starting his family with then wife Yvonne. His children: Anthony Joseph and Valerie Ann born in Colorado. Joe provided for his family installing flooring for over 20 years. A career change as an A&P Mechanic, the family headed West and found themselves in California. Joe retired from United Airlines and moved to Oklahoma to be closer to his daughter Valerie, Son in Law Derek and Grandchildren Liberty Grace, 9, and Stephen Joseph, 7. This came with a name change to Papa Joe, by all who knew him, and he wore it with the greatest of pride. Papa Joe added to his pride with a Grand Daughter, Liliana Amaryllis, 1 who lives in Colorado with Son, Anthony. There wasn’t a request that Papa wouldn’t deliver from rocket ships to painting nails, no request was too big. Papa Joe continued to pass along his love of vintage cars, building with his hands and gardening and cheering on the Denver Broncos with all who wanted to learn. He mesmerized those around with his adventures growing up on motorcycles and traveling the country. Papa Joe knew his way around the kitchen as well as he did a car. He taught us to impower ourselves and nothing is impossible. His dreams live on in the adventure and love he instilled in the hearts of many. Forever in our heart, until we meet again at the gates of Heaven.A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at Broken Arrow Church of Christ from 10am-12pm in the Fellowship Hall.
