Joseph Frederick Price's Obituary
Joseph (Joey) Frederick Price was born June 24, 1990 and he passed at age 32 on May 30, 2023. He
was the son of Drs. Geoffrey Loyd and Judy Chan Price of Fulshear, TX and brother of Jerry Loyd
Price, II and David Kenneth Price both of Richmond, TX. Joey was a believer in Christ and we know
he is now in heaven with God the Father.
Joey was born in Baton Rouge, LA and he was proud of his Louisiana roots. He learned to cook
crawfish, to fish, and to hunt before leaving Baton Rouge with his family in 2000. Joey was 10 years
old when the family moved to Tulsa, OK and Joey spent much of his life there.
Joey graduated from the University of Tulsa in 2013 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He did
research work for his favorite professor during his undergraduate years specializing in coiled tubing.
He was especially proficient at evaluating the effects of scratches and other flaws on the life of coiled
tubing. He then went to work for Cytec Industrial Materials in Tulsa, and moved to Muncie Power
Products, also in Tulsa, soon after.
In 2018, Joey got the opportunity he really wanted and went to work at Global Tubing in Houston,
TX. Here, he was able to use the most advanced knowledge in the business to help in the coiled tubing
manufacturing process. He worked for Global until 2019, but he could not stand Houston mostly
because of long commutes to and from his work. So he quit Global and went back to Tulsa.
He joined Boyle Services in Tulsa where he learned to manufacture and service boilers. But when his
two brothers, David and Jerry, started their families, and management changes at Boyle Services made
Joey feel unwelcome, he found the allure of Houston near where his brothers lived too attractive, and
he went back to Houston working again for Global Tubing. During his second job at Global, he was on
the team that managed to create the longest single piece of coiled tubing ever manufactured at the
time, which came in at some 7 miles long.
Joey again had enough of Houston in 2022, and he went back to Tulsa to work for Kimberly-Clark at
the manufacturing plant in Bixby, OK. He was the lead engineer and he was loved and respected there
as much as he loved his job even though his time there was short. He was honored with a flag at half
mast at the Kimberly-Clark manufacturing facility after his death.
Joey loved to hunt and fish. He spent many dove and duck seasons hunting with his Dad on their duck
lease and he was an excellent shot. He was a solid woodworker, machinist and welder. He was the
greatest friend of all to many of his friends, even doing unattractive jobs like removing a possum
family from underneath a friend’s house and helping others change toilets. He was extremely gifted
with hands-on work. He also was a kind person with a big heart that appealed to everyone he
encountered. He loved children and loved to teach them how to hunt and fish.
Joey is survived by his parents, brother Jerry and his wife Amber, and brother David and his wife
Cayli. Joey was “Bluncle Joey” (blood uncle) to his nephew Nolan Matthew Price, niece Emily Marie
Price, son and daughter of Jerry and Amber, and to niece Lucy Harper Price, daughter of David and
Cayli. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and their descendants.
