Joy Butcher's Obituary
Joy Butcher, 96, passed away peacefully, leaving behind nearly a century of love, care, and a legacy of kindness that touched everyone who knew her.
Joy was born in 1929 in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Buddy Butcher, and together they made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they built a life centered around family, friendship, and an always-open door.
Joy spent her life taking care of others. There were always extended friends and family gathered at their house, and somehow Joy was always prepared to welcome more. No one ever left hungry, uncomforted, or unnoticed.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, survived by her two children, six grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. When her grandchildren were young, Joy was right there with them—making playdough, baking treats, and “glamming it up” whenever the moment called for it. Those memories will be cherished forever.
Joy was endlessly talented and curious. She was a seamstress, a crocheter, and a dancer of all styles—so much so that she even took up belly dancing at one point, just because she could. Her creativity, joy, and willingness to try new things never faded.
Everyone who met Joy loved her. Her sweet smile, gentle spirit, and genuine warmth made people feel instantly at ease. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will live on through the many lives she touched.
