Kathryn Freeman's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joyce Kathryn Freeman.
Mom was born January 29, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee to Sam Miles and Rose Bud (Morris) Miles. Her parents divorced when she was an infant and she was raised by her maternal grandparents in Arkansas until she was 12 when she moved to Tulsa to live with her mother.
She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1953. Known affectionately by her classmates as “Kitty”, she was active in the A Cappella choir, Art Club, and Keystoners. She often talked about how she loved to meet friends after school at Crown Drugstore to have a Cherry Coke from the Soda fountain.
In June of 1954, she married Walter Lee Price and together, they had four children, Lee, Robert, Jeff, and Kathie. They divorced and she later married Fred Freeman of Garden City, Kansas. They relocated back to Tulsa and lived in the area until they divorced after the children were grown.
She continued to live in Tulsa until her eldest son, Lee, passed away in 2023. She then moved to Cypress, Texas in the last year and a half of her life to live with her daughter. On Thursday, December 19, 2024, she slipped peacefully into eternity.
Mom loved to cook and made the best fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cream gravy. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she always strived to make it special for us kids. Besides cooking, she loved reading history and romance novels. She attended Church on the Move for several years and volunteered at the Christmas Train at Dry Gulch.
She is preceded in death by her mother and two sons, Lee and Bob.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Freeman and wife, Heather, of Anchorage, AK and daughter, Kathie Daniel and husband, Carl, of Cypress, TX. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Family will have a viewing 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
