Joyce Mae Johnson's Obituary
Joyce Mae Johnson born April 7th, 1924 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the 14th day of July 2010. She graduated from Seminole High School. Joyce married Roy E. Johnson on July 3rd, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked as the owner and director of Peoria Child Care Center before retiring after 20 years. Joyce and Roy retired to a beautiful log home at Lake Tenkiller where they lived for 18 years before returning to Tulsa. Her favorite spot was in the porch swing enjoying her many flowers and watching the many birds. Her retirement years were filled with traveling with Roy in their motorhome. They had many wonderful trips with their friends from the Good Sam Club. She enjoyed trips to the Colorado Mountains, camping and fishing with her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and gave her family many years of great holiday meals and a bottomless cookie jar. She was also an accomplished seamstress and quilter for many years. Joyce was a member of Harvard Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa and the Tenkiller Good Sam Club. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years: Roy E. Johnson of the home; children: Gloria Hulva and her husband Alan, Sharla Johnson, Stan Johnson and his wife Abigail, Brad Johnson and his wife Becky; grandchildren: Tammy Hulva, Melanie Miller and her husband Rob, Jake Johnson and his wife Brittany, Katie Johnson, Luke Johnson, Cole Johnson and Olivia Johnson; great grandchildren: Kaleb Hulva, Hunter Johnson and soon to be born twins, Riley and Emma. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Jo; brothers: Christopher and Bill. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her family as a woman full of grace, love of her family and her God. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 19th, 2010, 2:00 pm at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 South Harvard Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma with a private family interment to follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
