Joyce Geraldine Miller's Obituary
Joyce Geraldine Miller, beloved daughter, wife, mother, aunt, “Grammy,” sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in McKinney, Texas, on January 17, 2026, after a long illness.
Joyce was born to Marion and Mammie Ratliff in Healdton, Oklahoma, on May 10, 1932. The youngest of eight children, she moved with her family to Ventura County, California, in 1942.
After graduating from Fillmore High School, Joyce’s sister arranged a blind date for her with Sergeant Albert W. Miller. After a lengthy courtship, Al and Joyce were married on February 13, 1954.
Al and Joyce settled in Ojai, California, where they raised their four children: Alan, Joel, Nathan, and Amy. Joyce was an expert homemaker who deeply loved and cared for her family, always ensuring friends and loved ones had plenty to eat, even if that meant sacrificing something for herself. When someone complimented her cooking, Joyce would often respond with a smile, saying, “That’s because it was made with love.”
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own home. Joyce loved helping others and often volunteered with Mrs. Brewster’s kindergarten class at Topa Topa Elementary, where she shared her warmth and kindness with countless children.
After her husband Al’s passing in 2022, Joyce relocated to an exclusive memory care facility in Mckinney, Texas where she often entertained the staff with her wry wit and candid observations.
Joyce is survived by her children: Alan and wife Brenda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Joel (“No. 1 with Mom”) of Plano, Texas; Nathan and wife Monique of McKinney, Texas; and Amy of Grand Prairie, Texas. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Wynn, Wyatt, Adrian, Kendall, Audri, Hadassah, Josiah, Blake, Shaylyn, Alyssa, Aiden, Averly, Drew, Sophia and Madeline, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
