Joyce M Schaefer's Obituary
Joyce M. Schaefer was born on March 18, 1927, in Omaha Nebraska to Walter and Palma (Kupka) Wragge. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1945. Joyce met her future husband Ed after he accidently broke her glasses with a snowball when she was 16.
Joyce attended 2 years of college at Duchesne College after which she went to work at the Aquilla Ladies Store in Omaha as Omaha’s first Bridal Secretary. She changed careers and moved to Denver, Colorado to work as the Executive Secretary for the Teamsters Union.
Joyce got engaged to E. Edwin (Ed) Schaefer November 5, 1955, and married April 14, 1956. They moved to Casper, Wyoming and were blessed with two sons – Paul and Nicholas. The family moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 1963 when Ed was transferred while working in the Oil Industry.
Joyce enjoyed working as a physical therapist with Chiropractor Dr. James Newcomb, also of Broken Arrow.
Joyce and Ed were both active members of Saint Anne Catholic Church since 1964. They enjoyed numerous coast-to-coast trips in their RV and Alaskan cruises. Joyce was noted to be an enthusiastic photographer at the events.
Joyce’s laughter, hugs, and infectious smile are missed every day.
Funeral Services will be held on June 4, at Saint Anne Catholic Church, Broken Arrow, OK Rosary 9:00 am, Mass 10:00 am Inurnment will be held at a later date.
