Joyce Ann Thomas' Obituary
Joyce Ann Thomas of Bixby, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 15, 2022, at 88 years, 5 months, and 10 days.
Joyce was born January 5, 1934, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Adrian Ray and Peggy Allbee. There she graduated, met, and married her husband Joseph Albert Thomas in 1950. They were married for 55 years upon his death.
After marriage they moved to Enid, Oklahoma City, Bartlesville, Woodward, and then settled for the next 40-plus years in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 1975. There she and Joe built a long-lasting life in a neighborhood that many became long-lasting friends. Her home had a huge welcome mat to any and all, especially at Thanksgiving. She loved to cook and entertain. Indian Springs Baptist Church was where she became a charter member and served for many, many years. Upon moving into independent living at Silver Arrow Estates she became a member of their church and served in 2015.
Joyce was full of many gifts. She was a perfectionist seamstress and served her community by doing so. She was an active member and officer in the Daughters of the Revolution. Joyce loved and appreciated art. She painted in watercolor and oil. Her lovely art hung in her home and others. Her crafting hobbies included handmade personal notecards with beautiful embellishments. Genealogy took up a season of her life where she accumulated several boxes of family history. Probably her most notable and appreciated by so many was her gift and natural ability to write stories, particularly poems. She would get inspired on a whim and start writing on anything near her, a napkin, paper towel, or notebook. The last talent that we got to experience was her love to color with coloring pencils. It wasn’t a canvas-like before but it gave her just as much pleasure.
Joyce was a beautiful, virtuous woman that you find in Proverbs 31. Her relationship with Jesus was always shared in her word, kind deed, or a simple sweet smile. She was forgiving, graceful, thoughtful, and loved by us all. Her life on earth was truly a blessing to anyone who crossed her path.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Albert Thomas, sister Carole Sue Hennick and parents Adrian Ray Allbee and Peggy Wendall.
She is survived by her 2 daughters Debbie and husband Brad Stoots and Jonquil Nickels. Grandson, Thomas Nickels all of Tulsa. 4 granddaughters and their families, Matt and Cassy Pack, Nathan and McKenzie Tackett, Derek and Chelsey Bremseth, and Randal and Katie Bridges. She had 12 great-grandchildren, all of the Tulsa and surrounding area.
