Joyce Treat's Obituary
Joyce Lee Treat passed away on November 19th at home in a peaceful sleep at the age of 82.Joyce was born to Edgar and Nadean Sherman on December 6, 1936 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She attended Mountain Home grade school and high school where her favorite activities were singing in the Methodist Church Choir and in a High School Triple Trio Group.Joyce met Duane, the love of her life, in the 8th grade. They started dating when they were Juniors in High School and after a 5 year courtship were married on September 5, 1957.Joyce attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She taught 4th grade in Fayetteville, Arkansas while Duane earned his Engineering Degree at the University of Arkansas.They moved to Tulsa in 1963 where Joyce pursued her hobbies of collecting antiques and collectibles, playing bridge, and Square Dancing.In 1977 Joyce and Duane started a home building company where Joyce was heavily involved in the Sales, Design, and Decoration of the homes they built and sold.Joyce and Duane joined Heritage United Methodist in 2007 where she loved her Sunday School Class, Ladies Night Out, the Choir and the love and friendship of so many friends at Heritage. Joyce loved her church and loved being with her fellow church members. Her sweet spirit was always so encouraging, lifting so many of us up in prayer.Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Duane, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends.Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24 from 3 pm – 5 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Services will be at 3pm on Monday, November 25 at Heritage United Methodist Church – 5300 E Kenosha St, Broken Arrow, OK 74014
