Juanita "Faye" Higgins' Obituary
Juanita Faye Higgins went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2016, passing away peacefully at Clarehouse. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will greatly missed by her family.She was born January 1, 1927 in Decatur, AR to Elzey Lawrence and Lida Lanissa Wilmoth Ownbey. She had 7 sisters and 2 brothers. Faye graduated from Decatur High School where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team. She met the love of her life, Jack Higgins, when she was visiting her sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Frank Higgins.Jack and Faye married on January 4, 1947. They were together for 69 years. When they first married she worked at Sears in the layaway department for five years. They had 2 daughters, Pam and Suzette. Faye was very active in her daughter’s school activities. She was a member of the PTA at Robert Fulton Elementary School and a Girl Scout Leader for both of her daughters’ Brownie and Girl Scout troops.Faye was an avid golfer. She had never played golf before marrying Jack who was a professional golfer. She loved the game and was very competitive. She won the Ladies Meadowbrook Country Club Championship 11 times. And she was a 3 time Tulsa District Champion, winning in 1972, 1974, and 1985. She also made several hole-in-ones during her lifetime, at least 7.Faye is survived by her 2 daughters: Pam Patterson and husband Jim of Tulsa, OK; Suzette Baker and husband Brian of Broken Arrow, OK. Five grandchildren: Amber Richardson and husband Jim of Grove, OK; Austin Baker and wife Sommer of Owasso, OK: Jafe Baker of Fallbrook, CA; Briana Lambert and husband Lane of Owasso, OK; and Preston Baker of Broken Arrow, OK. Two great grandchildren Evan Richardson and Annalise Baker. Her sister Marilyn Cameron of Dana Point, CA and brother Marvin Ownbey of Gentry, AR.She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Lida Ownbey; loving husband Jack Higgins; sisters Thelma Wilmoth, Lucille Ownbey, Nedra Primrose, Nadean Hardcastle, Loretta Higgins, Wanda Cameron; and brother Orla Ownbey.Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 12:30 in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel located in Broken Arrow, OK. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Clarehouse in Tulsa, Ok.
