Judy Morgan Kucera's Obituary
If you knew Judy, then you knew one of the sweetest, kindest Southern belles you’d ever have the pleasure to call your friend. You would likely be in her graces, for Judy loved unconditionally and was a Momma to all.
Judy Morgan Kucera went home to be with our Creator and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Judy was born on April 2, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas to loving parents, Maurine Williamson Morgan and Lucian Minor Morgan. She grew up in College Station, Texas and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1963. Her high school activities included Judy dancing on the Bengal Belles Drill Team, playing tennis, and making life-long friends in Girl Scouts. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Home Economics from Texas Tech University where she met and married her husband of 56 years.
As a kind, generous, gracious, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, Judy lived a full and joyous life. She was an ever-present Momma to all – serving as homeroom mom and Scout leader for her three kids. She taught Sunday School and provided childcare for neighbor kids in her home both before and after the school day. She encouraged her own children to pursue their passions – making every opportunity of swim, dance, piano lessons, sporting seasons, Scout camp, and endless educational enrichment classes available to her kids. She hosted birthday parties, holiday gatherings, family celebrations, sleepovers, and bridge parties with a Southern grace and charm that always made others feel welcome and accepted.
Judy delighted in collecting antiques, both personally and professionally. She traveled to Kansas and Texas regularly to buy treasures, and officially started her resale business in Stillwater during the years her kids were in college there. Her weekly business trips to display her crystal and china were opportunities to show up and love on her young-adult kids at OSU. Judy continued her antiques business at River City Trading Post in Jenks and regularly exhibited at the Tulsa Flea Market. In her recent years, she enjoyed her morning walks, yoga and Tai Chi, traveling, and exercise classes at the Owasso Community Center. Her most-treasured activities centered around her grandkids. Grandma was always cheering at basketball games and jujitsu tournaments, and chocolate-chip cookies and ice cream were her most-favorite celebration.
Judy loved all of us unconditionally, with no assumption or judgment, and truly was a Momma to all. Through her lifelong example, her children and grandchildren have grown to be people of strong character who love God and one another with their whole hearts. Her delightful wit, warmth and kindness, love, and genuine care and compassion for all will be deeply missed.
Judy’s passing is preceded by the death of her parents and two brothers – James Howard Morgan and Lucian “Peck” Minor Morgan, Jr.
Judy is survived by her brother, Keith Edward Morgan (Pam) of Madisonville, Texas; her husband, E. Jerry Kucera of Owasso, her two daughters and their spouses, Jenny Morgan Kucera (Lizette) of Owasso, Julie Marie Gideon (Brandon) of Owasso, and her son Jerry James Kucera (Laura) of Sachse, Texas. Judy is also survived by seven wonderful grandchildren: Kayleigh, Jace, Levi, Evelyn, and Amy Kucera; Knox and Brex Gideon; and her nieces and nephews in Texas – Kelly, Kevin, Kyle Morgan, and Gloria Kucera.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, October 5th at 12:30 pm at Floral Haven Chapel Funeral Home of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
