Julia Mae Saxbury's Obituary
Julia Mae Saxbury, 77, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Born May 20, 1947, in Quincy, Illinois, she was the eldest daughter of Albert Thomas and Ruth Mary (Hodges) Viar. She was baptized at Liberty Christian Church and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Liberty, Illinois.
Julia retired from American Airlines. She attended Asbury Methodist Church in Tulsa and was an active member of Ladies Hoopla Birthday group, Women’s Republican Club, Ladies Tulsa Boys Home Club, Ladies Assistance Club, and The Guild of the Opera. She was also a member of the Tulsa Elks Lodge for 22 years, serving as an officer for many of those years.
Julia is survived by her best friend and soulmate, Ray Peltier; her children: Barbara Freeman of Dixon, MO, Patricia Martin of Tulsa, OK and Curtis Saxbury and wife Brande of St. James, MO; Grandchildren: Greg Whitaker of Hannibal, MO, Justin Freeman and Brian Freeman of Jefferson City, MO, Tyler Saxbury and wife Chelsey, Logan Saxbury and wife Riley, and Hannah Saxbury, all of St. James, MO; Great-grandchildren: Evelynn Freeman of Eolia, MO, Kolt and Kori Saxbury, and Parker Saxbury, all of St. James, MO. She is also survived by her brothers Albert Viar, Jr. of Marion, IA and Ronald Viar of Hannibal, MO.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Albert and Ruth Viar; siblings Andy Gray Viar, Owen Leroy Viar, Charles Edward Viar, Betty Jo Myers and Mary Ann Myers; son-in-law, John Christopher Freeman.
Memorial donations may be made to Tulsa Elks Lodge #946 Kearney Hall or a charity of donors’ choice.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Tulsa Elks Lodge.
