Julie Ann Smith, 51, of Broken Arrow, Okla., died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.Julie was born Dec. 6, 1967, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hancock, Mich., the daughter of Gary and Marjorie Read Obituary
I first met Julie at Michigan Tech in a speech class we both hated! We bonded quickly. A few days before I graduated, there was a knock at my door and it was Julie with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my graduation! I was so touched by her thoughtfulness. Unfortunately, we didn’t stay in touch until a few years ago when we were able to reconnect via Facebook. I will always remember her and her kind heart! My sympathy to you all on this very great loss.
I am shocked to hear of Julie’s death, my deepest sympathy to her family and friends. Jeff, Julie and Roger were small children when my husband, children, mother and I stayed at one of their cabins. Through the years we watched them grow with wonderful memories of the fun we had. Julie’s mother and dad left us too soon and now Julie has also. God’s plan is so difficult to understand but I know she is enjoying His Heavenly Kingdom with her family.
Saying good bye in this world to my dear cousin Julie, but never in my heart. Rest peacefully sweet girl.

Julie was a member of the Chassell High School Band, and I was so blessed to have been the director there for 25 years. She was an excellent flutist, but more importantly she was a very special person. I remember her smile and enthusiasm for life. She was always willing to help other students. Julie was definitely a positive influence on everyone who knew here. I was so sad to hear of her passing and I pray for her family at this time. I’m sure she is smiling down on all of us saying, “Don’t be sad. I’m happy here too.”

Many prayers to your family. I only met Julie and family briefly though my father Bill Chapel. Her kind and loving spirit was evident even though we only had a few interactions. As an Angel I know she is in heaven with her loved ones. May God’s strength and gentle love surround you during this time of grief.
