K. Gaylord Burgess' Obituary
K. Gaylord Burgess, age 76, passed from this life on May 15, 2011. He was born in Terlton , Oklahoma August 7, 1934 to Kermit James Burgess and Oma Bell Hazlip Burgess. He was the oldest of 7 children. He graduated from Terlton High School in 1954. He later married Shirlea Joan Weston March 17th 1956. The couple had three children and resided in Terlton most of the married years. Gaylord worked as a siding applicator, in which he moved time to time, but would always come back home to Terlton. Tragically his wife Shirlea and eldest daughter Gayla was killed in Aexolex fireworks plant in 1985. Gaylord went on in his siding business with his son Mike until he was forced to retire in 1995 due to his health. Gaylord was a member of Wayside Chapel, and attended Church of Christ in Drumright , while living in a retirement apartment complex the last 4 years of his life in Drumright. He and his special friend Rosa Andrews loved to go to Gospel singings. The Lord took Gaylord home May 15th 2011 at Cimarron Point Nursing Home in Mannford, Ok. He is survived by his Daughter and her husband , Shirlynn and Sam Latham of Sand Springs Ok. Granddaughter Jennifer Schmausser of Lake Mary Florida. Great grandson Tristan Schmausser and Great granddaughter Isabella Schmausser of Lake Mary Florida. Brothers Lynn and wife Jeanne Burgess of Grove, Ok , Dennis and wife Janice Burgess of Terlton, Ok , Ricky and wife Janice Burgess of Mannford and sisters Vada and husband Bob Potts of Terton Ok, Kathy and husband Leonard Combs of Cleveland Ok. Brother in law Hardy Comstock of Cleveland Ok. Numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death was his parents Kermit and Oma Burgess, Sister Gloria Comstock. Wife Shirlea Burgess, Daughter Gayla Burgess, and son Mike Burgess and his special friend Rosa Andrews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 am, Wayside Chapel in Terlton, Oklahoma. Floral Haven (918) 252-2518
