Karen Kathleen Kuykendall's Obituary
Karen Kathleen Kuykendall (Kathy K’), 69, passed from this life on March 15, 2026, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born February 12, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Daniel and Elma Lorraine Kuykendall of Mannford Oklahoma. The middle of five children.
Kathy had a wild and crazy spirit and a heart that naturally gravitated toward caring for others. She worked as a Habilitation Training Specialist, caring for the developmentally disabled, a role that perfectly reflected her compassion and acceptance of everyone she came in contact with. Whether she was supporting those in her care or offering a listening ear to someone in need Kathy gave herself freely and wholeheartedly.
Kathy found joy in the simple, beautiful things of life. Many of her years were spent in Cookson, Oklahoma near Lake Tenkiller where she continued care giving as a Home Health Aide. She enjoyed her family, church, the lake, the annual Cherokee National Pow Wow, gardening her Morning Glories, and feeding her Hummingbirds. She loved watching the flowers she tended bloom each season. Diamond Art allowed her creativity to shine, and her love for birds – especially Pooky and Penny – filler her home with color and song.
Kathy is survived by her husband LeRoy Schumacher; her daughter, Eugenia Harris, and husband, D. Ray Harris; Stepdaughters Shannon and Meghan; adopted daughter Jessica Hilliard. She was beloved Nana to Deandre Harris, Trinity Harris and 5 other grandkids: 7 great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Elma Kuykendall; and her siblings, Danny Kuykendall and Donna Sumrall; her grandson Jacob Redfearn.
Kathy’s presence brought warmth, steadiness, and love to all who knew her. Her family and friends will remember her joyous laugh, her one liners “yous guys”, “I am loving you mostest”, “Have fun, be young, drink Pepsi”, and the way she made every person smile.
