Karen Kay Smith's Obituary
Karen Kay Smith was born July 15, 1948, in Oswego, Kansas to George Elmer and Martha Lee (Clark) Massa and passed from this life September 29, 2015, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 67.Karen grew up in Oswego, Kansas and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1966. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met her husband, Dewayne Smith. They were married on July 24, 1970 and celebrated their 45th anniversary this year.Karen worked as an Executive Secretary at Southwest United Industries from 1970 until 1995 with exception of the years she spent at home while her children were young. Karen enjoyed reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Cecil Massa.Karen is survived by her husband, Dewayne Smith; their son Bryan Smith and his wife, Sara; their daughter Rebecca Ogren and her husband, Jeff; and their grandchildren, Kaleb, Nikolas, Joseph, Addison and Jace. She is also survived by her niece, Janice Grove.To honor Karen’s wishes, a memorial service will not be held. Her family will instead celebrate her life with a private family dinner. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Metastatic Breast Cancer Research.Family had private family service.
