Karolyn Zgonc's Obituary
Karolyn Jo Zgonc, 78 years old, passed peacefully Aug. 16, 2021, surrounded by her children and other family. Her son, Dan, who passed in 2011 was waiting to take her hand.
She was born Dec 4, 1942 to Alvin and Faye Holloway in Wagoner, OK., where she was welcomed home by brother, James and sisters Judith and Shirley.
She grew up attending Tulsa schools and Nathan High School with the Class of 1961, where she made many life long friends. She married Ben Holzhauer on Jan. 16, 1962 in Tulsa and where they had 4 children and lived until 1973 when they moved to Foyil, OK to “Serenity Hill”. Many memories with her children were made here from swimming at “the pit”, vacations to CA, IA, FL Mexico, motorcycle riding, school sports, camping and attending Falls creek with Foyil Babtist Church where her best friend and sidekick Debi Walker chaperoned. Some of her favorite things were John Denver, anything Indian, purple, bandanas, OU football and drinking coffee. She made moves to AR, CA, and Sarcoxie, MO, where she met and married Ted Zgonc Sept. 5, 2008. They moved back to Claremore, OK in 2013, where he passed that year.
Her last years, she enjoyed many family BBQ’s and holiday get togethers. She was lovingly taken care of by daugther, Robin and shared her home.
The legacy she leaves behind is daughters, Frances Honeycutt, Robin Holzhauer, son, Frank Holzhauer and wife Maricel. 13 Grandchildren that she adored and knew her as “Nanny”, 15 Great-Grandchildren. Also survived by brother, James Holloway and sister Shirley Hunter.
She was an amazing, loving, wonderful, god-fearing woman that will be greatly missed.
