Katherine Amend's Obituary
Katherine Berryhill Amend, "Katie", age 96, passed from this life on January 27,2021. She was born on March 31,1924, to Charlie and Vernor Berryhill in Memphis, Tennessee, and lived the majority of her life there.
After high school graduation, she attended secretarial classes and was an executive secretary for the majority of her professional life. She also worked for the Ford Motor Company during the late 1940's.
Age at 15 she met the love of her life, Nathaniel "Nat" Amend, and they married during World War II in 1945. They were happily married for 64 years until Nat's passing in 2009. A devoted wife and mother, Katie was an avid reader, loved playing the piano and organ and was a true Southern lady.
She is survived by her only child Kathy Teeters, her "favorite" son in law Roy Teeters, Jr., one grandchild Roy N. Teeters, III "Trey" and one great grandchild Trevor Nathaniel Teeters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling Margaret Carr, and her beloved Nat. A memorial service will be held at a later date when she will be interred next to Nat at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
