Katherine "Kate" McCullough's Obituary
Katherine Ann McCullough, known by all as Kate, aged 65, passed this life on June 28, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on June 23, 1959, in Denton, Texas, Kate’s zest for life and her nurturing spirit touched all who knew her.
Kate dedicated her life to the caring profession of nursing before her retirement. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life into her personal interests. Known for her remarkable craftsmanship, Kate could create wonders from scratch. Her hands weaved warmth not just through the fabrics she sewed but also through the hearts she connected with her knitting group, Knitting4Knewbies. Her mentorship and the community she built empowered thousands to learn and grow in the art of knitting.
Her artistic talents shone brightly, earning her first place for one of her paintings at the Tulsa State Fair. Kate’s love for nature was evident in her gardening skills and her fondness for birds and bees, with the vibrant hues of yellow and red reflecting the joy she found in life.
Kate is preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jane (Ingram) Gammel, and brothers, Ronald Garrison and David Joe Garrison. She leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, survived by her husband of 20 years, Rick McCullough; her children, Melissa Howard and Daniel Frost; her grandchild, Devan Frost; her sisters, Peggy Day and Lenora Gammel Rich; her brothers, William Garrison and James Lann; and numerous family members and friends.
Her life will be celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 3 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, with a private burial at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Kate’s memory will forever be cherished as a beacon of creativity, compassion, community, and love.
Kate’s family welcomes all who have been part of her journey to join in honoring her remarkable life. Her spirit, teachings, and the beauty she created will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of many.
