Kathleen Pearse's Obituary
Kathleen “Katy” Montgomery Pearse of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away on December 9, 2010. She was born April 20, 1930 in Henryetta, Oklahoma and later moved to Okmulgee where she graduated high school. In 1946 she married Jay Pearse of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Katy was a woman of many talents and interests. From 1948 to 1968 she worked for Texas Oil Company, which would later come to be known as Texaco. In the 1950’s she became involved in racing cars with her husband Jay- who was an owner/driver/mechanic in dirt-track stock car racing. These experiences lead her to become part of the Powder Puff League of Women Drivers in Tulsa. Her love for well-bred dogs drew her to acquire a membership in the American Kennel Club. This same admiration was the driving force for creating the Lynn Lane Boarding Kennel, which she operated from 1968 to 1982. She developed a specific bloodline: Arrowood, which produced exceptional Airedales. She proudly showed and campaigned many dogs in her tenure as the matriarch of the kennel. Entrepreneurial skills came easily to her, as she was the proprietor of many businesses. She and husband Jay owned Stem and Petal Flower Shop from 1961 to 1963. Her pride and joy was tending to her show dogs and other champion show dogs at the Lynn Lane Boarding Kennel from 1968 to 1982. From 1995 to 1998 she owned Diamondback Anchor Company, which manufactured and distributed boat anchors. In her later years she earned her licensure for real estate and sold homes for Coldwell Banker. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents: Wayne and Martha Jewel (Farmer) Montgomery; sisters: Sue Nunnery and Ann Farley and brother: Jack Montgomery. She is survived by her husband: Jay Pearse; son: Rusty Pearse and his wife Nancy of Burleson, Texas; son: Wayne Pearse and his wife Kathy of Lawrence, Kansas; son: Dan Pearse of Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
