Kathleen Mangan Stouffer's Obituary
Kathleen Mangan Stouffer passed from this life on June 21, 2022, Kathleen was born in Tulsa on July 21,1937 to Lawrence and Emma Mangan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Carol and brother Thomas. Growing up, Kathleen lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Krebs, Little Rock, Kansas City and in Houston, Texas from 1947 to 1956. In 1955 Kathleen graduated from Reagan High School, Houston where she played bugle in the marching band and was a Rainbow girl.
In 1956, Kathleen and the Mangan family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she worked for Blue Cross. In Salt Lake City, Kathleen met Steve Stouffer at her Methodist Church where they were married in 1960. Son Mark was born in 1961 in Salt Lake and daughter Sheryl was born in Casper, Wyoming 1964 where Steve worked for Amoco Corp. In 1965, the Stouffers were transferred to Denver, CO and 6 months later to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where they lived for 8 years, enjoying ice skating, hockey, Canadian football, fishing, hiking and camping. Getting suitcases out again, in 1974 the family moved to Tulsa where Steve worked for Santa Fe Energy. Steve was transferred to Houston.
from 1987 to1991, then they returned to Tulsa.
Kathleen is survived by her husband Steve, two nieces (Jennifer and Gail), both in Salt Lake City, son Mark and daughter-in-law Wendy in Denver and daughter Sheryl and husband Joe Wanenmacher III in Austin, Texas. She also has two grand-daughters- Claire in Fort Collins, CO and Heather in Austin.
Kathleen taught children's Sunday School in the Methodist church for over 20 years. She coached girls softball for daughter Sheryl's teams in Calgary and Tulsa. In Tulsa, Kathleen worked in photography and was a medical secretary. After retiring, she did volunteer work at Tulsa Spotlight Theater, Tulsa Airport Ambassador, Meals on Wheels and TCC Van Trease Theater. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority. She was in a senior citizen tap dancing group performing at several venues around Tulsa. Kathleen did party planning for her sorority, photography associations, Spotlight Theater and wedding receptions. Kathleen was always proud of her Irish Heritage and was blessed with a great sense of humor and kindness to all.
A memorial service will be held at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow at 3 PM July 1st, 2022 . In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
