I found this 20 years to late, but NEVER forgotten. Phi Mu Lion Up!
I knew Kathy through Philmont Scout Ranch when she was Backcountry Ranger. She was given the nickname "Mini-bear" when during a rest stop a Chipmunk had climbed into her back pack. Undetected the Chipmunk traveled in her pack to the next break. At the break she opened her pack and out popped the Chipmunk and then he ran away. There was much hilarity and story telling of how she got her nick name for years afterwards. She was always positive, chipper and happy. She was constant source of reinforcement. I even saw her gentle side as she spent time mentoring the youths in her charge and even consoling some of the younger hikers who were homesick. She loved to dance and was always willing to tell a campfire tale or be the joke for a campfire skit.
I'm sorry for her family and due to the suddenness didn't get to say goodbye.
For friendship and fellowship, we thank the O Lord
