Kenneth Eggers' Obituary
Ken was born March 8, 1928 in Jefferson City, Missouri the first first child of Harold and Johanna (Ortmeyer) Eggers. He was baptized April 1, 1928 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended Trinity Lutheran School for grades 1 through 8 and was confirmed in 1942. Much of his youth was spent playing organized baseball and softball, and hunting and fishing in the Jefferson City area. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1946. After enlisting in the Army in September 1946 serving in the First Infantry Regiment, 6th Division in Korea and being Honorably Discharged, he entered the University of Missouri to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. On September 9, 1950 he married Dorothy Flessa his high school sweet heart whom he had known since 2nd grade. He completed his course of studies for his degree in February of 1952 and was hired immediately by Western Electric Company, a part of the “Old Bell System”.Ken and Dot became the proud parents of daughter Pamela; daughter Kandise and son Douglas. Pam lives in Tulsa, OK; Kandi in Jenks, OK with husband Steve Alter; and Doug and his family live in Chino, CA. The family was active in church affairs, enjoyed camping and traveling much of the USA and decorating Rose Parade Floats.In 1984, The year of the Break-up of The Bell System, Ken retired. He and Dot moved to Hemet, CA and spent the next years traveling around the USA (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada. He was blessed to have been retired more years than his job years. Ken and Dot were also active in Braille work at Work Center 13 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hemet, CA. Ken and Dot moved to Inverness Village (a retirement facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma) to be near their daughters.Dot preceded Ken in death November 13th, 2016. He is survived by children Pam, Kandi, and Doug, grandchildren Harley Bryant, and Alicia (Eggers) Schumacher, great grandson Wyatt Schumacher and sister Eula BrakefieldVisitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home with family to receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran (2550 E. 71st St. in Tulsa, OK) with a reception to follow from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Christ the Redeemer Lutheran and Inverness Village Benevolent Fund, Foundation Office 3800 W. 71st St. Tulsa, OK 74132
