Kenneth "Ken" Jahn Brooks' Obituary
IN MEMORY OF KEN BROOKS Sailor, chef, craftsman, beloved husband Ken Brooks went to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Ken was born March 5, 1943 in Fort Worth, TX, the first child of Thomas and Hazle Brooks. He graduated from Birdville High School in Fort Worth and from North Texas State University with a degree in Industrial Arts. He served in the US Navy as a radar technician after college and later made his career as an Electronic Technician for the FAA. He retired from the FAA in 1998 after a 30 year career. Ken married Libbye Sloan on September 22, 1979 in Albuquerque, NM. They both worked in the Tulsa area until retirement. At that time they built their dream home at Lake Keystone and became active in the local community through membership at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church and the Windycrest Sailing Club. Those who knew Ken remember that Ken was the one who everyone called when they needed something fixed or done. He was a master craftsman who could always figure out how to do something. He has been described as “a man’s man” but was also gentle and kind. His love of cooking endeared him to all who knew him – a meal from Ken’s and Libbye’s kitchen was much to be desired! Ken was steadfast, reliable, and profound – he was a man of few words, but those words were significant and often showed his wry sense of humor and love of life. Ken is survived by his wife Libbye, his mother Hazle Brooks of Lake Keystone, his brother Steve and Debi Brooks of Lake Keystone, his son Robert Anthony and Barbara Brooks of Mesquite, TX, grandchildren Jessica, Samantha, and Justin, and great grandson Sebastian. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Westport, Oklahoma. http://www.stbedesok.org/
