I was an Amoco colleague and Fellowship Church member with Ken. My wife Vreni and Ken's wife Liz were fast friends especially tied to church work. Ken developed a computer program which became the tool for much of Amoco's hydraulic fracturing operations especially in the Wattenberg Field of Colorado. Ken wrote and delivered papers and talks on fracturing and started a consulting company. His Amoco Report states "Analysis of the fracturing pressure response is analogous to pressure transient analysis in reservoir engineering." Analogy is one of the most useful tools in physical science so I have great admiration for his insight. Ken followed the father of hydraulic fracturing: Riley Floyd Farris, who got the patent for the original process (no horizontal drilling) for Amoco (then Stanolind Oil and Gas Co.) in 1952.I send my condolences to Margaret, Phillip, and Richard and give phone number (972) 578-9093 to reconnect with them and they can learn about Kaari and Charlie.
