Kenneth L. Rainbolt's Obituary
Kenneth “Kenny” L. Rainbolt passed away Monday, February 9th 2015 at the stroke of midnight. He was born on December 31,1943 to Carl E. and Ruby “Gladys” (Tye) Rainbolt in Okmulgee. Kenny spent his childhood on a farm in Ft. Gibson playing football, fishing, hunting, riding horses and helping his father and two brothers on the farm. He graduated from Northeastern State University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1965 and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. In 1966 Kenny was drafted into the Army and was a member of the 55th OCS Company. He was assigned to Ft. Ben Harrison for AGOBC. In February of 1967 he was assigned to Ryukyu Islands “USARYIS” Okinawa. He was promoted to Captain in December of 1968 and then in 1969 he commanded the 255th PSC on Okinawa and returned to Conus in 1970. Kenny returned to the states and started his career with Prudential Insurance January of 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He joined the Army Reserve and was promoted to Major in 1978 and served in 4156th USAR School as an instructor for Officer Advanced Courses. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Cathey (Wood), the love of his life; three daughters, Kimberly Young, Katy (Jason) Stephens, Kendra Rainbolt; three grandchildren, Trevor Young, Rease and Baron Stephens; two brothers, Paul (Sondie) and Larry (Sue) Rainbolt of Ft. Gibson as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was well known for his stories and jokes and enjoyed his daily routine of swimming at the YMCA, grilling on his Hasty Bake, being everyone’s “Cabana Boy” and spending time with family and friends. He loved his annual trips to Cabo to see the whales and St. Croix with friends. His summers were spent fishing and taking the family out on the pontoon at Grand Lake. The family would like to thank Dr. Muhammad Janjua for the excellent care he gave Ken as well as Dr’s. Tripathy and Sack. Also a big thank you to the nursing staff on 7 West who gave him such loving care.Services will be held Saturday, February 14th at 12:30 P.M. Floral Haven , 6500 South 129th East Ave. Broken Arrow, OK 74012. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
