Kenneth Ray Smith's Obituary
Kenneth Ray Smith, age seventy-five, passed from his earthly life into the arms of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on June 29, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kenneth was born on April 7, 1936 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His parents were Walter Kenneth and Beulah Lily Mason Smith. He received his education in Jenks, Oklahoma where he was a star athlete, graduating with a scholarship for his outstanding performance on the football field. He married the love of his life, Carroll Ann Burns, and they celebrated fifty-five years of marriage. They had four children; Donovan Smith of Oilton, Oklahoma; the late Debby Clark of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; the late DeRonda Roy of the Dallas area in Texas; and Stacy Smith of the home in Wagoner, Oklahoma. They moved to Camarillo, California where they lived for several years where Kenneth was the foreman of a produce farm. After moving back to Oklahoma, Kenneth worked for twenty-eight years for John Zink, aka Koch, retiring in 1998. Kenneth was a devoted family man, who loved watching sports on TV with his family. He loved camping and fishing on the Illinois River with his family, his parents, his siblings and their families. He was an avid gardener, growing prize tomatoes, which he shared with family and friends. Survivors include his son, Donovan Smith and his wife Linda, of Oilton, Oklahoma; a daughter, Stacy Smith of the home in Wagoner, Oklahoma, two sisters, Wanda Woods and her husband Oliver, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Brenda McElyea and her husband Don, of Kellyville, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law Caron Smith of Ochelata; Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Beulah Smith; two daughters; Debby Clark and DeRonda Roy; and one brother, Robert Smith. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:00am, at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, directed by Floral Haven Funeral Home. The Reverend Chap Replogle will be officiating.
